ICT/ECDL

Students have now completed their ICT and ECDL study for exams this school year.  ICT summer exam for Form 2 & 3 will focus on the following areas:

  • The Concepts of ICT 
  • Word Processing (Understanding of formatting features)
  • Spreadsheets (Understanding of formulas) 
  • On line essentials (Internet & E-Mail) 

For ECDL, students should practice on their activity packs, do sample exams from the ECDL Malta website along with practice of diagnostic tests. 

Form 1 summer exam focus areas:

  • Word Processing (Formatting features)
  • Basic concepts of ICT (Theory) 
  • Spreadsheets (Understanding Formulas)
  • Presentations 

Please note that Form 1 exam is based on 80%.  20% has been allocated to the presentation as part of the Home Economics/ICT Project.

ECDL Update: 
Form 2, 3 & 5 students have almost completed their practice for the next module of ECDL covering Spreadsheets.  Students will shortly receive dates for the next set of exams and a circular will be sent home.  Once Spreadsheets have been completed, students will move onto Online Applications. 

Home Economics/ICT Project Update:
Form 1 & 2 students by now should be completing their Microsoft Word Document for their Home Economics Project.  Ms Tania is currently reviewing the work.  Two weeks will be allocated to creating their Microsoft PowerPoint Presentations to present the findings the students have researched based on their chosen topics.  The final date to hand all work to Ms. Tania and Mr. Brendan is Tuesday the 6th of May.  The following week the live presentations will take place.  Please note that the marks allocated on these projects are 50% for end of year Home Economics Exam and 20% for ICT Exam.

  • Evgeny: The balance of good health

Form 1 & 2 Home Economics Annual Exam using ICT 
Create a Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation of 10 Minutes (10 Slides) to present a topic from your Home Economics subject.

Marking:
  • This will consist of 50% of your end of year Home Economic Total Mark. (Project & Presentation)
  • This will consist of 20% of your end of Year ICT Total Mark. (Presentation Work)
The class is to cover both topics. A project and a presentation per student should be handed in by the end of April to be assessed. Work is to start immediately and each student must hand in to Ms. Tania the project along with copies of research and work done showing where the information was sourced. Copies of presentations are to be presented to Mr. Brendan.

All topics must be covered be each student.

Start Date: 03rd February 2014
Finish Date: 30th of April 2014

One class of ICT per week will be allocated for the purpose of this project. You will need to have all your notes researched prior to class.

A detailed instruction sheet will be handed to each student this week helping you to plan each of your weeks.

(Form 1, 2, 3, & 5)

Practice examples and past exam papers are being used to practice with.



ICT Update:

Form 1 & 2 Students are currently studying:


      Text, Pictures and Numbers
   1. Create and Edit documents using Word Processor
   2. Formatting documents & check for spelling and grammar errors
   3. Being able to use objects in word documents
   4. How to create and save a spreadsheet and change its content and format
   5. Preparing word documents and spreadsheets for output  

Students will begin with Presenting and Publishing Information shortly working on a joint project with their Home Economics Subject.  This will be 20% of the final end of year exam in June.
